Camila Cabello Reveals The Real Reason She Changed The Name Of Her Debut Album

Camila Cabello has opened up about what led her to scratch the initial title she had in mind for her debut album in favour of a more streamlined, self-titled, option.
The Havana singer previously revealed that her first album away from Fifth Harmony would be called The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving but recently announced that the switch in titles was a deliberate attempt to move away from the “heartbreak” that inspired the music.

Let's all get checking out an update from MTV News...

In a new interview with Zane Lowe, Camila confirmed that the alterations behind both the name and tracklist of the album are a careful reflection of where she is in her life rn.
"Everything that I talked about it in an interview, it just made it really difficult to really move on," she said. "I don’t want to give that power over somebody else — that the whole first album revolves around them and this bad situation. It's giving that too much power.
Defending her decision to edit the title, Camila said: “I think that everything happens in a parallel way, where it was me taking power over the title and control over what the album was about and me just taking power over my own life.”
Fans will also be aware that previously released songs "OMG", "I Have Questions," and "Cry" haven’t made the cut for the album, with the singer revealing that she no longer feels the same connection to the tracks: “Those aren't me anymore. It felt like I have grown and grown more as an artist and as a person."
As for how the global success of Havana has impacted her approach to the album, Camila said she’s been determined to make the final product – set for release on January 12th - as “consistent” as possible.
“I feel like it’s important for me as a new artist, and especially people hearing ‘Havana’ and more people kind of knowing who I am, I think that it’s really important that the message is, like, super consistent," she explained.
